What is the name of this movie?

The lead actor is a guy with a brown beard. They are in Africa or somewhere and they are searching for something. They are being escorted somewhere by tribal guys and along the way they p a whirlpool that sucks in some boats. There is a waterfall of lava and lions too. I only have spotty memories of this movie and I'm not so sure I didn't make up some scene or am not just mixing 2 movies together. Thanks!
