Know of any good fishing areas between Gulfport Miss. to Pensacola Fl.? I would prefer shore & land vs boat.?

I am going to be spending the next month or so moving along that stretch of the gulf coast and would like to do some angling, freshwater or salt. Enjoyed Big Red fishing in Texas (Port Aransas) last winter and have always been a freshwater fisherman. Any good suggestions on general areas to hit? Please mention species and nearest city or geographical area.
