Failure to control your vehicle citation in Michigan?

I was driving home and I was turning onto a street and I saw a deer in the middle of the road. Without even thinking I swerved my car to the right to avoid oncomming traffic and I went into a ditch. The police came and the officer gave me a citation for losing control of my vehicle. It all happend so quick I wasn't sure what to do. Does anyone know if I even have a chance to fight this and what the fines and costs are. Thank you.
